Edona Berisha Kida, Visiting Scholar in School of Education; Associate Professor of Educational Psychology at University of Pristina (Kosovo), is a visiting scholar in the School of Education where her research focuses on prevention of trauma transmission through the educational systems.
Ewa Boguła, Senior Specialist in the Research and Publishing Department of the Fryderyk Chopin Institute, is visiting scholar in the Jacobs School of Music, where she is working on a doctoral dissertation that addresses piano concertos by Polish-born composers during the second half of the long 19th century. In her free time she is dancing lindy hop with the IU Swing Dance Club.

Mikolaj Herbst, Assistant Professor in the Centre for European Regional and Local Studies (EUROREG) at University of Warsaw, is a visiting scholar in the School of Education. His research compares education systems with particular emphasis on institutions, organization, and outcomes.
Igor Kuznetsov, Associate Professor of History and International Affairs at Kuban State University (Krasnodar, Russia), is a visiting scholar at the Russian and East European Institute. His research examines the political and sociocultural factors that impact indigenous and ethnic minority populations, particularly within the Caucasus and North America. In October, he presented “The Red Decade in the History of Collaboration between Russian and American Anthropologists” at On Russia in Russian, REEI’s Russian-language colloquium.
Nadezhda Nartova, Senior Lecturer and Senior Research Fellow at the Higher School of Economics (HSE) in Saint Petersburg, was scholar in residence under the auspices of REEI in September and October through the IU-HSE Faculty Exchange. In addition to conducting research on youth and gender isssues in contemporary Russia, she presented “Between Public and Private: Youth and the Quest for Civil Society in Contemporary Russia” at On Russia in Russian, REEI’s Russian-language colloquium.
Lieutenant Colonel Angela Reber, is REEI’s inaugural Strategic Russian and East European Fellow, one of 77 military officers fulfilling their advanced military education requirements at major universities across the United States this year. An active duty US Army officer with more than 19 years of service, she has served in a variety of leadership and staff assignments in the United States, the Middle East and Europe including Poland and Ukraine. At REEI she will pursue coursework that focuses on US foreign policy, US national security issues, US-Russia relations and Russian language.
John Romero is post-doctoral fellow with the Russian Studies Workshop (RSW), where he is working on a project that addresses the initial creation of national cadres in the Tatar Republic in the 1920s and to the rise of the last generation of Soviet Tatar cultural elites in the 1970s and 1980s. He is also leading a writing circle with RSW graduate students and will teach Comparative Colonialsim, an upper-division course in the Department of the International Studies in Spring 2020.
Ruta Śpiewak, a sociologist with the Institute of Polish Academy of Sciences Rural and Agricultural Development Polish Academy of Sciences and a scholar-practitioner, who has helped to grow the Consumer Cooperative movement over the last decade, is a visiting scholar at the Ostrom Workshop, where she is exploring the differences in motivational foundations, organizational forms, and institutional functioning of Alternative Food Networks (AFN) in the U.S. and Central and Eastern Europe.
